The AEAV has a long and proud history of representing members with excellent and timely advice and representation while upholding key union values - solidarity, unity, diversity, and member-led decision making. This history of strong campaigning and casework has led Paramedics, Ambulance Officers and Support Staff in Victoria to be the best paid in the country.
With the amalgamation of United Voice and the National Union of Workers creating the United Workers Union, members in Victoria will be joined by Ambulance Officers in WA, QLD, and the NT in the fourth biggest union in the country.
As the registered Union for Paramedics in Victoria, the AEAV (United Workers Union) will implement national best practice standards for individual casework, and create strategic campaigns to win systemic change within paramedicine.
The AEAV has been approached by members who have indicated that they would like to rebuild based on the principles of:
- Independent representation
In the first instance, a Steering Committee will be developed. The committee will be made up of passionate paramedics who will mould the rules governing the AEAV operations. As a priority the Steering Committee will consider rules governing the following:
- Engagement and accountability for individual member casework
- Regional members represented and issues addressed
- Transparency in discussions with AV management
- Members receiving high-quality independent advice specific to their needs
- Emphasis on member welfare during dispute resolution
If you are passionate about any of the principles listed above and wish to have your input on the direction of AEAV then please email [email protected]. Alternatively, call the AEAV Coordinator, Adrian Barrett, on 0427 792 893 to discuss.
